January 14, 1997 found us in Colorado Springs when we visited the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo then left the girls behind to visit the Will Rogers Shrine.

That evening, we spent in Manitou Springs at a motel where your mama grilled us some steaks and corn while Kes fed Sunny something out of a plastic cup.

At some point around July, we decided we needed a minivan. We traded in the old big blue Dodge and and took off to Colorado soon after.

We consider this one of our first family road trip vacations.
